No product is not, of course, even if it is an amino acid derivative. The products are natural substances found in nature that have pharmacological activity.

The synthesis was described by Volker Teetz, and I provided the following:

Title: Synthesis of unnatural amino acids - (S, S, S)-2-bicyclo [3.3.0] octane-3 --
Carboxylic acids

Author: Teetz V, et al.

Posted: Tetrahedron Letters [0040-4039] Year: 1984 Vol: 25 ISS: 40 pg :4479-4482

Another good article that describes the complete synthesis of ramipril:

Title: Synthesis of highly active inhibitor of angiotensin angiotensin converting enzyme - 2 - [N-[(S)-1-ethoxycarbonyl-3 --
Phenyl]-L-alanyl] - (1S, 3S, 5S) -2 --
bicyclo [3.3.0] octane-3-carboxylic acid

Author: Teetz V, et al

Posted: drug research [0004-4172] Year: 1984 Vol :34-2 ISS: 10B PG: 1399 -1401

Both products are currently the best source. I also found a new synthesis, which was patented recently. Find here: http://www.wipo.int/pctdb/en / wo.jsp? r = 2 ...

Hope this helps.
